Introduction: JHU's Environmental Sciences and Policy Master's degree Program offers a flexible curriculum that allows students to tailor their academic experience to suit their personal needs and interests. Programs of study may be structured to accommodate students with little scientific background, although many students are already employed in the environmental field but wish to enhance their training or move in new directions. The program strives to help students develop an understanding of the processes that shape our planet's surface, control the chemistry of our air and water, and produce the resources on which we depend. At the same time, in order to implement scientific solutions to environmental problems, we must establish and execute policies that are politically, socially, and uconomically feasible. Core coursework includes geology, hydrology, oceanography, meteorology, ecology, and policy making. Electives range across a spectrum from courses strongly oriented toward policy, to ones focused more heavily on science.

Introduction: The distance-learning program in Coastal Zone Management at Nova Southeastern University’s Oceanographic Center provides a timely, credible forum for learning about key national and international issues and case studies related to the ecology and management of the coastal and marine environment, including ongoing research at the Oceanographic Center. The flexible distance format makes it ideal for adult learners, including working professionals and college graduates in a variety of related fields. Courses may be taken individually for general interest, undergraduate or graduate credit. We offer a full online MS in Coastal Zone Management and a 4-course Graduate Certificate in Coastal Studies. Our distance MS in Education with Specialization in Environmental Education is available through the National Graduate Teacher Education online program. The “Study Abroad” program provides a jointly-taught MS in Marine Biology with a field station of the University of London.
