The major prepares students for employment or graduate work in the fields of science, communications, consulting, environmental health, law, policy and politics.
The Environmental Studies student will gain a solid scientific background, a firm understanding of legal, political, and social issues, and good communication skills. Students discover the interconnected nature of environmental issues, the ethical considerations that govern these issues, and their potential solutions. After completing core courses, students may choose from four concentrations, which help to tailor the major to meet the student's educational goals. The four concentrations are science, economics, policy, and humanities. In class, students are presented with real-world environmental problems and asked to come up with solution-strategies for them; in this way, students are prepared for today's challenges.
