The Oceanographic Center at Nova Southeastern University offers both site-based and distance education programs. Located on the east coast of Florida, the Center's mission is to carry out innovative basic and applied research, and to provide high-quality graduate and undergraduate education in a broad range of marine-science and related disciplines. It serves as a community resource for information, research and education on environmental issues and houses the National Coral Reef Institute, the Guy Harvey Research Institute, and the Institute of Marine and Coastal Studies. The Center offers graduate studies towards Master's (MS) degree programs in Coastal Zone Management, Marine Environmental Sciences, Marine Biology, and Physical Oceanography.
The Oceanographic Center has over ten years experience in offering distance learning courses and programs for graduate and undergraduate credit, as well as general interest. Students may study online towards an MS in Coastal Zone Management, an MS with a specialization in Environmental Education (OCEE), and an MA in Cross-Disciplinary Studies. A
Graduate Certificate in Coastal Studies is also offered, tailored for students who may not wish to pursue a full master's degree, or as a precursor to master's studies.
All programs are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (www.sacs.org), and students may choose to be admitted at the start of any of four terms throughout the year.
