Introduction: The University of Pittsburgh's Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies equips students with an understanding of our planet's systems and processes as well as human impacts on the Earth. The program seeks to integrate science, policy and human ecology into an understanding of the myriad issues facing the environment today. Students are given the tools to address and solve these pressing issues. The program is interdisciplinary, drawing from the natural and social sciences, humanities, and schools of law, business and public health. Coursework can include environmental journalism, history of the environmental movement, advocacy, politics, and the biological, physical and chemical sciences. The program requires a field study component and an internship to help students prepare for a job. The University is located in the exciting city of Pittsburgh. With several education institutions in the area, there are lots of great cultural and social opportunities for students.
