The University of Minnesota's College of Natural Resources offers a comprehensive selection of environmental and natural resources academic programs. Its undergraduate forestry program is ranked first in the United States, while its Fisheries and Wildlife major and Natural Resources Management major are ranked fifth and seventh respectively. Undergraduate majors include Bio-based Products, Environment and Natural Resources, Fisheries and Wildlife, Forest Resources, Recreation Resource Management, and Urban and Community Forestry. Graduate programs include Conservation Biology, Fisheries, Forestry, Natural Resources Science and Management, Water Resources Science, and Wildlife Conservation.
The College of Natural Resources' mission is to foster a quality environment by contributing to the management, protection, and sustainable use of our natural resources through teaching, research, and outreach. Continuously accredited since 1935, the College is consistently ranked in the top three colleges of natural resources in the United States. We've been training environmental scientists and managers for over 100 years. Our graduates work in public, corporate and non-profit institutions all over the world. Not only do our students benefit from the faculty teaching and research at the College but also from real world experience.
We feel the College of Natural Resources provides our students with the unique experience of attending a small, friendly college with all of the resources of a large Big Ten University. Our location in a major metropolitan area and our field station, the Cloquet Forestry Station in northern Minnesota, provides students with a strong balance and exposes them to a wide range of natural resources and environmental issues.
